What are the different ways to control access in LaunchNotes?

Summary

LaunchNotes supports authentication for two completely different scenarios: controlling who can manage your workspace and controlling who can view your published content. Understanding which scenario applies to your situation will help you choose the right authentication method.

Two authentication scenarios:

1. Admin access to the LaunchNotes workspace

This controls who can log into your LaunchNotes workspace to create announcements, manage settings, and publish content. Think of this as employee access—your product managers, marketers, and team members who work in LaunchNotes.

(control who has access to login and use LaunchNotes)

Example: Your IT department requires centralized control over application access. When a product manager joins your team, they need LaunchNotes access. When they leave, that access needs immediate removal.

Available methods:

  • Email and password (default, all plans)

  • SSO: Google & Microsoft (all plans)

  • SAML (Premium plans)

2. Viewer access to your published page

This controls who can see the announcements you publish on your LaunchNotes page. Think of this as customer access—the people who read your product updates, not the people who write them.

(control who has access to view your updates page)

Example: You want to make your LaunchNotes page private so only paying customers can see it.

Available methods:

  • SSO: Google & Microsoft (all plans)

  • JWT (all plans)

  • SAML (Premium plans)
