LaunchNotes includes an AI Assistant in the editor for Announcements, Digests, and Roadmap Items, designed to help you and your team work more efficiently.

There are several AI features within LaunchNotes:

The AI Assistant is available on the Growth, Premium, and Enterprise subscription plans.

Getting Started with the editor AI Assistant

In the editor toolbar you’ll see the AI Assistant stars. Selecting this will bring up AI modal with fields for your source content (Your prompt) and the AI output.

If you select a portion of your content before opening the AI assistant, it will automatically be entered in the source content field. This is a great way to improve what you've already written.

If you're not modifying existing content, write or paste your content into the source content field, and press generate. After a few seconds, you’ll see the AI generated content appear in the AI output section for you to review.

💡 The more content and context you can provide in your input data, the better the results will be.

Prompting

When using the AI assistant without specifying directions in your source content the assistant will attempt to transform whatever content you've provided into a full announcement.

However, if you begin your entry with explicit directions like the examples below, the assistant will use these instructions instead:

  • Make this simpler for a non-technical audience:

  • Translate this into English:

  • Replace all mentions of "Cat" with "Dog":

  • Make the following more concise:

  • Emphasize the value to users with

Using AI assistant generated content

If you’re not happy with the results, you can select the generate button again, and the assistant will regenerate this content. You can do this as many times as you wish, and can modify the source content between runs.

There is a rate limit of 60 generations or regenerations per minute

Once you’re happy with the results, select the Insert AI output button, which will close out the modal and paste the generated results into your draft. The new content will either replace the content that was originally selected, or insert where your cursor was if nothing was selected. In the editor, you can continue to format and edit before publishing.

⚠️ The AI assistant can write in markdown format, but it may not be immediately detected by the editor. For markdown marks like headers ##, unordered lists -, and ordered lists 1., these will register if you press space immediately following the mark in the editor. For markdown styles like bold **text** and italic _text_ replacing the trailing mark will cause the editor to register the styling.

What content can I use?

You can use almost anything as the source content for the AI Assistant to transform, such as:

  • Gitlab/Github MR/PRs descriptions

  • Commit messages

  • Product requirement documents (PRDs)

  • Meeting Transcripts

  • JIRA tasks

  • Slack message and notes

  • etc.

AI assistant use cases

The AI assistant can be used once to generate a whole announcement, and can also be used several times within an announcement - for example use a prompt like "Make this more concise using bullet points: " to turn a chunk of text to a succinct bullet point list, which you can repeat as many times as you wish to form a list.

Feedback sentiment analysis

Another AI feature in LaunchNotes is sentiment analysis for feedback. This can help gauge how positively or negatively feedback is trending over time, and highlight the most strongly worded and emotionally driven feedback for your team's attention.

Aggregated feedback sentiment can be viewed on the Dashboard > Feedback > Feedback Sentiment. Apply different timeframes from the date range picker at the top of the dashboard:

Individual feedback sentiment can be viewed and sorted within a subscriber or domain detail view. Click on a subscriber's email address or a domain to open the info panel, and navigate to the feedback tab within it:
