Summary

Customers can submit feedback directly on individual roadmap items when feedback is enabled in your LaunchNotes workspace. Each roadmap item displays a feedback button where customers can share comments, feature requests, or questions about that specific item. All roadmap feedback flows into your centralized Feedback Inbox where you can review, organize, and respond. You can also add feedback to roadmap items on behalf of customers to capture insights from calls, support tickets, or Slack conversations.

Steps to enable and collect roadmap feedback

1. Enable feedback for your workspace

  1. Navigate to Settings > Feedback & Ideas in your management portal

  2. Verify that Enable feedback if turned ON (it's on by default)

  3. If feedback was previously disabled, toggle it on

2. Make sure your roadmap is published

  1. Navigate to Settings > Roadmap

  2. Verify Publish roadmap is toggled on

  3. Ensure roadmap items you want feedback on are in published stages (not unpublished stages)

2. Configure feedback settings (optional)

  1. Under Email addresses to forward feedback to, add up to 10 email addresses if you want to automatically send new feedback to external systems or team members.

  2. Under Feedback Pop-up Form, customize the messages customers see:

    • First message: Shown immediately after customer submits feedback (default: "We got it!")

    • Second message: Shown after the first message (default: "Thank you!")

After form submission, user will see this message.

3. Make sure your roadmap is published

  1. Navigate to Settings > Roadmap

  2. Verify Publish roadmap is toggled ON

  3. Ensure roadmap items you want feedback on are in published stages (not unpublished stages)

4. Customers submit feedback on roadmap items

  2. They click on the Roadmap tab

  3. They select a specific roadmap item to view details

  4. They click the Feedback button on the roadmap item

  5. They enter their feedback text and select a sentiment (positive, neutral, or negative)

  6. They submit the feedback and see your customized confirmation messages

5. Review feedback in your management portal

7. Add feedback on behalf of customers (optional)

  2. Enter the feedback content and select the customer or contact who provided it

  4. Or, navigate directly to a roadmap item, click the Feedback tab, and click + Add feedback

Notes & important info

  • Customers must be able to access your roadmap to leave feedback—if your page is private, they'll need authentication

  • Only published roadmap items accept feedback—items in unpublished stages won't show feedback buttons to customers

  • All feedback appears in one inbox—roadmap feedback combines with announcement feedback, Idea feedback, and general product feedback in a single Feedback Inbox

Troubleshooting

  • Customers don't see a feedback button on roadmap items: Verify that feedback is enabled under Settings > Feedback & Ideas and that the roadmap item is in a published stage

  • Not receiving notifications about new feedback: Check your personal notification preferences (profile menu > Notifications tab) and ensure email or Slack notifications for feedback are enabled

  • Want to disable roadmap feedback but keep announcement feedback: This isn't possible—feedback is an all-or-nothing setting. You can choose not to publish your roadmap if you only want feedback on announcements

  • Need to forward feedback to an external system: Set up email forwarding under Settings > Feedback & Ideas or configure webhooks under Settings > Integrations for custom integrations

  • Customers submitting duplicate feedback: Create an Idea to group related feedback submissions, making it easier to track common requests
