Summary

You can connect your Email Service Provider (ESP) to send announcement emails from your own verified domain. LaunchNotes supports SendGrid, Postmark, Mailgun, and SMTP out of the box. This improves email deliverability, provides access to email metrics in your ESP, enables reply-to functionality, and strengthens your brand presence.

Steps to setup

  1. Before starting in LaunchNotes: Verify your domain with your Email Service Provider

  2. Navigate to Settings > Email Settings in LaunchNotes

  3. Scroll to the Email Sender section

  4. Select your ESP from the available options (SendGrid, Postmark, Mailgun, or SMTP)

  5. Enter the required information for your email provider. (You may need to involve your IT team for help here)

  6. Click Update to save

Below you can see how these settings appear in your customers' email clients:

Steps to test and verify the email settings

After you have clicked Update to save your work, click on Send test email in the upper-right hand corner. This will automatically send a test email to the email account you are logged in with to LaunchNotes.

If successful, you will receive a test email in your inbox like below:

Notes & important info

  • Important: You must verify your domain with your Email Service Provider before connecting it to LaunchNotes. LaunchNotes cannot send emails from unverified domains.

  • Important: Connecting your ESP is separate from email branding. You can customize your email appearance without connecting an ESP, but connecting an ESP requires configuration with your email provider first. Read our article on How do I customize my email branding?

  • Note: When you connect your own ESP, replies to announcement emails will go to the address you configure, not to LaunchNotes.

  • For SendGrid, Mailgun, Postmark, or SMTP-specific setup help, reference their documentation:

Why connect your own domain?

  • Better deliverability: Customers already receive emails from your domain, so your announcements are more likely to reach their inbox instead of spam

  • Email metrics: View open rates, click rates, and troubleshoot delivery issues directly in your ESP dashboard

  • Reply functionality: Unlike @launchnotes.io addresses, customers can reply to emails sent from your domain

  • Professional branding: Emails from your company domain build more trust than third-party addresses
