Summary
You can choose whether email and Slack notifications display your full announcement content or just a summary with a link. By default, LaunchNotes shows the full announcement content in notifications. You might want to hide content to drive traffic to your LaunchNotes page, protect sensitive information, or keep notifications concise. This works well for private pages.
When to show vs. hide announcement content
Show announcement content when:
You want subscribers to read updates directly in their inbox or Slack
Your announcements are brief and easy to scan
You prioritize user convenience over page traffic
Hide announcement content when:
You want to drive subscribers to your branded LaunchNotes page
Your announcements contain sensitive information that requires authentication to view
Email example
The announcement title and body content are removed from the email. Viewers of the email must click "View announcement" and authenticate to the LaunchNotes page to see the content.
Slack example
The announcement title and body content are removed from the slack notification. Viewers of the slack message must click "Go to Announcement" and authenticate to the LaunchNotes page to see the content.
Steps
In your LaunchNotes workspace, navigate to Settings > Email Settings > Notification security.
Under "Display announcement content in email and Slack notifications?", select your preference:
Show announcement content (default) – Displays your full announcement in notifications
Hide announcement content – Sends a summary with a "View announcement" link to your LaunchNotes page
Your selection applies to all future email and Slack notifications automatically.
Notes & important info
Note: This setting affects both email and Slack notifications. You cannot configure them separately.
Note: Hiding content does not affect RSS feeds or embed widgets—those always display full announcement content.
Note: Changes apply to new notifications only. Previously sent notifications are not affected.
Important: Even when hiding content, subscribers still see your announcement title and a brief preview in the notification.
