Summary
You can create and publish announcements in LaunchNotes by clicking + New Draft, adding your content (title, description, images), configuring where it should be published (page, email, Slack), and clicking Publish now. The entire process takes about 5 minutes once you're familiar with the workflow.
Steps
Step 1: Create your announcement draft
Navigate to Announcements
Click + New Draft in the top right corner of your workspace
Add your announcement title and content using the rich text editor
(Optional) Upload a hero image by clicking the image icon at the top (recommended size: 1640px wide, 5:3 aspect ratio, max 5MB)
Add any videos or embedded content using the Add Media button in the toolbar
Select which Categories and Labels apply to this announcement to organize it properly. For more information, read article on Categories and Labels.
Step 2: Configure publishing channels
In the Publishing Channels card on the right side, toggle on the channels where you want this announcement to appear:
Page β Posts to your LaunchNotes product updates page (a url is generated)
Email β Sends notifications to subscribers
Slack β Sends updates to your connected Slack channels
Click View all recipients to confirm who will receive this announcement
(Optional) Customize the email subject line or excerpt if needed

Step 3: Preview before publishing
Click Preview in the top right to see how your announcement will look on your page
Click Test email in the Notifications card to send a test email to up to 5 email addresses
Review the content carefully to ensure formatting, images, and links work correctly
Step 4: Publish or Schedule
Click Publish now to send immediately, or click Schedule announcement to set a future date and time. (Note, when you click Publish now a confirmation modal will show and the announcement won't immediately deploy.)
Confirm the number of recipients in the modal and click Publish now to finalize

Notes & important info
Note: All changes auto-save as you work, so you won't lose your draft if you accidentally close the window.
Note: Most email providers do not support embedded videos in emails and will omit them. If video is essential, use a thumbnail image that links to the video hosted elsewhere. Learn more about videos in email notifications.
Important: You must select at least one Category or one Cohort before you can publish to Email or Slack channels.
Important: Once published, edits to the announcement will only appear on live surfaces (web and embed widget). They will not update notifications already sent to subscribers.
Troubleshooting
If video embeds don't display properly: Get the shareable URL and wrap it in this format:
<iframe src="https://yourvideo.url" />If you can't publish to Email or Slack: Confirm you've selected at least one Category or Cohort in your announcement settings.
If you need to change the publish date after publishing: Go to the Content & Settings tab of your published announcement and edit the publish date on the right side. This is called "backdating" and will reorder the announcement in your timeline.
If you can't edit or publish announcements, check our user roles. Certain roles do not have permission to edit announcements in scheduled and published states.
